QUESTION 2: POE

Different psychological issues in the digital world

1.Internet addiction

This issue is about being addicted to surf the internet at an increased rate rather than only visiting the internet only when needed. It transcends beyond just surfing for information but also for entertainment in a manner that you use the internet for more than half your day and cannot spend a long period of time without using your internet (Digital Citizenship, 2020). For example people who watch YouTube for entertainment more than 3 hours almost every day and you feel unhappy when not watching it then you will be addicted to the internet. This may cause you stress and make you depressed as you feel unsatisfied when not surfing the internet (Addiction Center, 2020).

2.Online disinhibition effect

This issue occurs when people feel less inhibited or restrained when using the internet because of anonymity, therefore people tend to open up and reveal personal information such as locations and real full names etc and end up being taken advantage of (The Psychology of Cyberspace, 2020). . On the other hand people may use the anonymity to behave badly towards other people like trolling them because they are not using their real personal information. For example people may make fake social network accounts and start swearing and sending threats to other people who may feel depressed and endangered (The Psychology of Cyberspace, 2020).

3.Cyber Bullying

This is when a person is being harassed by somebody else who is a bully using an electronic device. Cyber bullying may take place through SMS, social media text, email, games or anything that can transfer a message from one person to the other (Stopbullying, 2020). For example sending someone threats such as blackmail or threatening to beat someone's family member if they don't give you money is cyber bullying. Exposing someone's private information which could taint their reputation or embarrass them without their consent is also cyber bullying. Cyber bullying is thus seen as a criminal offence (Stopbullying, 2020).

4.Cyber Stalking

This occurs when someone who is a stalker keeps a victim under unwanted and unlawful surveillance without the victim's permission. Cyber stalkers may harass, spam or send threats to the victims (Tripwire, 2018) . For example checking someone's Instagram profile in order to see where they are when they post pictures with locations and then sending them threats ,sending messages which may make them feel harassed or taking them pictures without the victims being aware and later use the images to threaten or harass them. Cyber stalkers may also spam victims with their(stalkers) pictures and when the victims block them on social media they create numerous other accounts in order to stalk that victim (Tripwire, 2018).
